NLB Bank JCS Podgorica has joined the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Support Program ‘Women in Business’. The program aims to unleash the potential of women entrepreneurs by providing access to finance and knowledge needed for business growth.
Greater participation of women in the economy and strengthening of gender equality are expected to increase the country’s overall prosperity.
Companies run by women in Montenegro will have support from the EBRD in the amount of two million euros of credit line given to NLB Bank JCS Podgorica, within the program ‘Women in Business’.
The Executive Director of NLB Bank JCS Podgorica believes that access to finance is one of the key problems faced by women in entrepreneurship and that it will try to solve this barrier through the Program, ie through the so-called ‘soft collateral’.
NLB Bank decided to support women entrepreneurs, because they are partial or full owners of 20 percent of companies in Montenegro, as well as because 25 percent of these companies belong to the segment of small and medium enterprises (MSP).
